New retirement community for Waikanae Beach
It's exciting times at Waikanae Beach as the Arvida development begins.
Earthworks are about to begin at the new Arvida Waikanae Beach development after a recent land blessing attended by local Iwi - Te Ātiawa ki Whakarongotai. The nine hectare, $250 million development will offer independent living and quality care options to residents. A conditional agreement of additional land has also been agreed upon with the Waikanae Golf Club.
Arvida Chief Executive Jeremy Nicoll said the new development has had a large amount of interest and will be a unique retirement living offering in the area for over-65s. “With the stunning backdrop of the hills and the neighbouring golf course, it’s a very special location for a new Arvida Living Well Community. We’re looking forward to bringing new retirement lifestyle options to the Waikanae Beach community,” Nicoll said.
Stage one is expected to begin in May 2026 and will see 16 architecturally designed Villas completed by March 2027. The development will employ about 200 local workers to build the construction.
The completed development is expected to feature 154 Villas in the community, plus a range of independent living Apartments and a Care Centre.
